hnnn.... try changing the mode to RGB instead of Bitmap. That will give you the option not to flatten, and shouldn't make a difference in the long run.

Gran, when I change my image's mode from grayscale to bitmap, it forces the picture to flatten. For some reason, that layers get locked (I can't make new ones or duplicate old ones). How do I fix this? :(
