TarynSmith weekly critique # 6

http://www.flickr.com/photos/patrick-smith-photography/3202786812/ This is an extremely striking photo for several different reasons. To start off, the colors in this photo are beautiful. The gold, blue, brown and yellow shades compliment eachother perfectly creating a very magical image. Also the golden tones of the rocks bring out the peachy-golden shades among the blue clouds. The peachy-golden clouds meet the deep blue ocean at the horizon line which makes for a very defined line and balance… Continue

Tiffany T Independent Project

I know this is a little late, but it relates to the actual final project much more. Originally, I had planned to do what was going to be titled "The Pajama Series: A Drowsy Reflection on Shanghai" and it would be a compare/contrast piece on the many dichotomies in Shanghai, especially in relation to the differences between local Shanghainese life and expatriate life. I was going to have only one model, wearing one pair of pajamas travel through Shanghai experimenting life as a local would, and… Continue

Tiffany T I can't think of a witty title and I've already done 8 blog posts, so this is an extra blog post, blog post.

His photos have this amazing glow and quality to them that makes me really really jealous. I want to be as good as this person. I mean there's such attention to detail and for these two photos, and almost supernatural quality to them. For the first one, I love the texture of the ima… Continue

Tiffany T Louboutins are So Beautiful.

I just realized how odd it may seem that I can post these so quickly. I copy-pasted them off text-edit that way i can see the photo as I type. I also didn't do them so late at night. I just forgot about them when I went out and thought of them again now. I don't know why I'm explaining this... I was randomly looking through photos on flickr and I starting thinking… Continue

Tiffany T I Miss My Dog.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/lomokev/2656654506/in/set-72157605776769517/ Wow, I keep getting images for which I cannot copy the image address. Once again, for this image, it was the color that caught my eye. The blue hue was next on the rainbow, so I guess it only follows that next photo I choose would be blue. Especially in light of the fact that my photo project is all about colors - the blue in this photo - and everyday (or in my case everyday local shanghainese-y life) - the subway in this… Continue

Tiffany T To Summer...

http://www.flickr.com/photos/lomokev/2806720376/ I found this photo very interesting. A wonderful tribute to summer - to all the wonder, glory and fun - all in my favorite color green. I loved the dominance of that particular yellow-green color, on the precipice between a cold and warm color, it seemed to go well with the whole theme of the transition to the cold, but more structured life of school and the warm, spontaneous summer life. There's also this delicate balance in the image because of… Continue

Bradley T. WEEK 5,6,7,8 because ning is unacessable without a proxy, which i am on

1. http://www.flickr.com/photos/24356676@N07/2974319937/ This picture is interesting because of its color. The composition is a bit different than the traditional landscape which makes it quite interesting... The color however is good. There is a lot of contrasting colors, like red and green which compliment one another. The red trees stand out because of the green backround. However, the tree on the right is quite destracting because it is big and forms a border ruining the comp. The sky is al… Continue

Melaynad Weekly Homework

http://www.flickr.com/photos/bluedreamsonly/3521954242/ This photo is interesting because its almost surreal. Pencils would not stick up straight like that so thats what makes it surreal. Also, at first glance, one of the pencils isn't as sharpened as the others, and I thought that it wasn't supposed to be like that, but it turns out it is. Its showing how "In order to be irreplacable one must always be different." There is a good depth of field in this picture, and the lighting is nice. Continue

kai-Advancedphoto kais weekly review 8

i liked thisa photo because the colors were amazing. The ho hum tutorial must have been used or the saturation was played with because these colors are definitely photoshopped bgut still look nice. The threee color light sign is in the rule of thirds area and pulls your eye to that. the contrast between the lights and the background buildings help the lights stand out. I really like how the first light you see is the red blue and green cross light but your ewye follows the line of the light posts… Continue

kai-Advancedphoto weeky review 7

http://www.flickr.com/photos/mumbleyjoe/1382713454/ this photo is eye catching. its not very happening but it is still interesting. I think the combination of the bright colorsa with the dark background and the forst nature appearence makes the light in the woods interesting. I do think that the pool takes away from the nice colors of the background and its a little distracting from what is really happening but the poool also works with the backgorund because it is complimentry and contrasts w… Continue

Melaynad Weekly Homework 2

http://www.flickr.com/photos/romanticidio/3501994536/ This picture is pretty creepy. I like how its desaturated except for little details in the shirt. There's a good depth of field, and I like how the girl is the only thing in focus. The front of the tree and the background behind her is all blurry. She is also on the line of thirds and it makes it creepy because she is staring directly at the camera. Continue

kai-Advancedphoto weekly blog post 6

http://www.flickr.com/photos/sandy_pics/2559830392/ this hpto is not very interesting, object wise. The one thing about it that works though is the coloring and lighitng. They both work perfvectly together. The lighting is phenominal. The cxolors in the sky really work well with this lighitng and stanbd out more since it is dusk time and the sun is setting. The orange blends with the white in the sky making it look creamy and it gives it alot of interesting texture. there are other components w… Continue

kai-Advancedphoto weekly review 5

http://www.flickr.com/photos/magdalengreen/371762870/ the photo has very nice colors in it. i like the contrast in the blue light from the sky and the suns light and the reflection it leaves on the ice. The swan in the middle creates a bullseye but since the background and it are so dark it meshes together and is not too disturbing. I cvant tell what the gorund is, it may be water or it may be ice. its surreal in that sense and i like it for that reason. the photo has good balance to it. Also t… Continue

katrina Weekly Post #8

This photo may seem very simple and almost a bit cliche - the old black and white and a sudden splash of red. However, I think many things make this photo work and stands out. The rain creates a wet pavement, reflection type look to the street, and the dirt along the white lines of the crosswalk really adds interesting elements to this photo. The most significant aspect that contributes… Continue

JosephK Independent Project Proposal #2- The Remake

For my independent project, I have decided to use a light painting/Narrative base with incorporation of the different words below. {Life, Love, Peace, Happy, Sadness, Anger, Dull, Sick, Tired, Annoy, Flirt, Playful} For each of the 12 photos I will have one word for each photo each with a different light painting theme to it. Meaning for the first photo using the word "Life" i would have a somesort of aspect of life, plus with the word written out in light painting, and also the background wil… Continue

TarynSmith weekly critique # 5

http://www.flickr.com/photos/hvhe1/3080395402/ There is so much about this photograph that make it almost perfect. To begin, the rule of thirds holds true with the deer placed in the bottom left corner. It is important for the deer to be placed on a thirds vertex because it is the main subject of the photo. The viewer's eyes are also drawn to deer because of the many leading lines. The branches create oblique leading lines to the sun shining through the back of the forest. Once the viewer is foc… Continue
