The two photographers that I have chosen are: Daifuku Sensei (amateur) and Michael Freeman (professional). They both have one thing in common, and that is that they are both deeply involved with HDR photography, in fact, Michael Freeman has even written a book called "Mastering HDR Photography". The subject matter of Sensei is mostly related to urban subjects such as tall skyscrapers, cool architecture, neon lights and sometimes even people (which I thought was something that you shouldn't inclu… Continue

Weekly Critique 5

Since, we have been doing so many narrative photos, I thought that I might as well comment on a good narrative photo that I have seen while exploring Flickr. I really like this photo for it describes really well one of the scenarios in a classical folktale, "The Little Red Riding Hood". The general color of this image is excellent at conveying the emotion of the dire situation. The bluish hue demo… Continue

4th Weekly Critique

This is a very similar type photo to the previous one and it is by the same author. Yet, despite some of the similarities, the differences still struck me as impressive. Probably the most discernible different aspect is the color. The orange splash one mainly contained white as the background color so that the orange colors could easily stand out. In this one, black is the dominating color, while… Continue

Third Weekly Critique

Finally!!!!

picture url: http://www.flickr.com/photos/kevinloganphoto/3187654300/ What really stuns me at the first glance in this image is how clear and detailed it is. I think this is very hard to accomplish for I have tried to take split second images of water droplets and it was challenging to simply get the image of the flying droplets, leave alone having good background and color and compos… Continue

Second Weekly Critique - Hong Yi

This is amazing as a result of the wonderful HDR effect. The predominant lines all lead to a vanishing point creating a very good sense of perspective in the image. The lines are mainly created by the dge of the river as well as by the tops of the houses. The vanishing point is evidently the sunset. What I really like about the placement of the vanishing point is that it is not at the dead center of t… Continue

Hong Yi's Flickr Photo Critique

At a first glance of this picture, the most stunning aspect of it is the lighting and the emotion. The lighting is just gorgeous, I wonder if there was any manipulation involved or it is entirely natural lighting. Furthermore, not only is the streak of light beautiful but added onto that beauty is what it does to the picture. Some of it shines onto the old man's face allowing the viewer to contemplate th… Continue
