With all the Sappy lovey-dovey Valentine's photo, this is a nice change of mood. This photo is subtle, but it works.
At first glance, the colours seem warm and happy, but then you see the knife...and the half-butchered teddy bear.
The figure of the woman and the objects arranged underneath her create leading lines that go in a circle around the photo.
The contrast of the colors are really nice as well. The yellow lemons with the green leaves in the background, and the bright red flowers against the green grass. The teddy bear also has a nice 'earthly' tone that blends in well with the grass, yet its red bow makes it stand out.

And I just want to compliment on the concept of the photo again. I don't think Valentine's is a very meaningful holiday, although it is probably helping the economy somewhat.......hmmm

I hate valentines day too :)

At first glance this photo looks so happy and cheerful with the colors and shapes. And also at first you don't see the knife. When you look closer however, you see all the dark things hidden in the bright colors. I actually didn't notice that the teddy bear was cut open until Alix mentioned it. Tiffany brings up a good point about the lemons. Even though they're bright yellow, they symbolize sourness.

Wow this photo is really dramatic and I do so very much love her monologue at the end. I mean I have a boyfriend and all but I feel Valentine's is kind of stupid, it totally geared towards the poor pathetic men who must spend another day showing their significant other how much they love them (when they really should just do it every day) and for the poor single people to feel lonely and sad.

Anyhow, on to the photo, well I really loved the movement in the photo, almost in a complete circle which captures all the important elements. My eyes started which the shoes, followed up her body then down the hair to the knife and the butchered teddy and then to the flowers... And all the bright, almost fluorescent colors added to that fantastical effect of the photo. Plus, I know this probably wasn't meant to happen, but the lemons in the background just really added to the photo they just seemed to symbolize how bitter she is or sour or something about having received flowers? Haha, that aspect I still don't get, flowers are always great.
