This is amazing as a result of the wonderful HDR effect. The predominant lines all lead to a vanishing point creating a very good sense of perspective in the image. The lines are mainly created by the dge of the river as well as by the tops of the houses. The vanishing point is evidently the sunset. What I really like about the placement of the vanishing point is that it is not at the dead center of the picture. If it were at the middle, it would have caught the viewer's eye right in the middle and would have kept the eye from looking at elsewhere in the picture except for the area around the middle point. However, by placing the vanishing point off center, it makes the image much more subtle and gives the viewer more space for the eye to move around. and yet not trail off the page because the vanishing point is still very strong, strong enough to attract one's attention back to the image. The dominant texture here is slipperiness, and chilliness. The object that gives off this sensation is the sheet of ice that covers the entire river. Coupled with the soft orange light given off by the sun and hitting the ice, it creates an even more slippery texture. There are two dominant colors in this image one is the orange hue and the other one is that grayish brown covering the foreground. The grayish brown creates an atmosphere of sorrowfulness, despair and tranquility. However, the orange hue contrasts very strongly with the grayish brown and that is why it creates such as dramatically opposite kind of atmosphere. It feels hopeful, cheerful and blissful. Tones include a very strong orange flooding into a space in which a very pale gray covers the ground and the walls. The main method being used here to create unity is to draw perspective lines, specially through the usage of the riverside, it guides the viewer deeper and deeper into the photo. What I really like in this image is how similar the water and the sky is and how similar the sides of the river look like. There is also repetition in the cars and boats lining against the river side.
