This photo may seem very simple and almost a bit cliche - the old black and white and a sudden splash of red. However, I think many things make this photo work and stands out. The rain creates a wet pavement, reflection type look to the street, and the dirt along the white lines of the crosswalk really adds interesting elements to this photo. The most significant aspect that contributes to this photo to me, is actually the cracks along the upper right corner of the photo. Although it doesn't necessarily add meaning, it makes it much more visually appealing, and can also create a balance with the red on the left. The obvious spot on the crosswalk also allows this photograph to stray away from the "perfection" that is boring, which in a way makes this a better photo. Just a fun, simple shot, yet the composition and colors remain striking to me, red and black&white will always be classic colors in a photograph.
